Making Strides!

14 Oct

On Saturday, a group of us “Made Strides Against Breast Cancer.”  Making Strides is a 5k walk held in Montgomery at Huntingdon College.  It is always such a fun event and to see women and men join together to help raise awareness to fight breast cancer just gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.  It was great to share the experience with my co-workers and friends.  Christina, a friend and co-worker, lost her sister to breast cancer in 2005.  I met Christina, through work, just two months after her sister passed away.  There’s one thing about Christina, she is an amazing person and friend.  She has been so supportive of my goals and is truly a team player.  I somehow talked her into participating in three 5k’s this year:  The Color Run, Montgomery Half Marathon/5k and Making Strides.  I also believe she’ll be doing the Jingle Bell Run, too.  It is great being able to experience milestones with friends.

Barbells for Boobs

8 Oct

On Saturday, October 27, I’ll be participating in Barbells for Boobs.  Per the Barbells for Boobs website:  Barbells for Boobs is a non-profit breast cancer organization whose mission is to provide funding through the Mammograms in Action Grant Program for qualified low income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer.

CrossFit boxes around the United States will participate in Barbells for Boobs in October to raise money for this great cause.  Our box will do the Amazing Grace WOD, which is 30 Clean and Jerks for time.

If you feel inclined, please help raise money for this great cause.  You can visit my fundraiser link here:  https://support.barbellsforboobs.org/individual-fundraising/fletch/
